Technical Requirements for Net-Billing Installation

The technical requirements for installing a Net Billing system in Cyprus include several key aspects. Here is a summary of the main requirements:

Equipment Selection: Solar panels and inverters must comply with established safety and quality standards (IEC or UL certification). The systems should be compatible with the local power grid and must not interfere with its operation.

Inverter with Surge Protection: The inverter, which converts direct current (DC) from the panels to alternating current (AC) for the grid, must include built-in surge protection to prevent damage in case of grid instability.

Maximum System Capacity: The capacity of your solar power system for Net Billing is usually regulated by local guidelines and should not exceed your actual energy consumption needs. For households, capacity can reach up to 10 kW, while for businesses and industrial sites, it can be higher, depending on their energy use.

Installation Site: Panels should have unobstructed access to sunlight, free from shadows cast by buildings, trees, or other structures. A south-facing roof orientation or panel installation at an optimal angle (approximately 30-35°) is ideal for maximum energy production.

Monitoring System: It is recommended that the solar system include a monitoring function to track the amount of energy produced and consumed. This helps ensure system efficiency and proper energy accounting.

Grid Connection: To connect to the power grid, an assessment must be conducted to determine the feasibility of integrating the system with the local grid, and configurations must be made in line with the technical standards of the local energy company.

Surge Protection and Grounding: The system should have adequate lightning protection and a reliable grounding system to ensure safety and stable operation.

Permits and Certification: To activate the system, it is necessary to obtain a permit from local authorities and undergo a technical inspection. Once installed, the system must pass an inspection and be approved for integration into the Net Billing system.

These requirements may vary depending on the specific regulations and standards in your area.
